The CARES Hudson Jam focuses on old timey tunes, country, bluegrass, gospel and sometimes a few surprises. Clark also calls a dance or two. Most any acoustic instrument is welcome including fiddle, banjo, guitar, flute, whistle, cello, etc., and we welcome singers too.

Jam Session etiquette offers everyone the chance to start a tune and the most fun is had by all if everyone makes an effort to maintain initial starting tempos. Most tunes are repeated 3 to 6 times before moving on to another tune. Players are also encouraged to start tunes that at least several others know if possible. The best sessions are when lots of people get to play lots of tunes and we all go away smiling. Generally, the strong players, or the musicians who know the tune, take the leade, with beginners playing along and learning the tune.

We welcome beginners, listeners, experienced players from other music genres also, but we try to concentrate on the traditional repetoire so that aspiring players can learn the basic tunes that are commonly played in traditional sessions around the country. So, if you want to learn more about this music and your instrument, give it a try!

"PLAY IT AND TAKE IT WORKSHOP" - From the Adirondack Mountains to Florida's Sun Coast, we have taught hundreds of people to play the mountain dulcimer. Our moniker, "TLC in the Key of D" is well known at all the festivals we attend and the workshops we hold. Sometimes we have been known to provide "Dulcimer Day Care" to discouraged musicians. If you can brush crumbs from the table, you can play the mountain dulcimer. It really is that easy!

CONTRA DANCE & OLD TIME SQUARE DANCE - Can you count to eight and walk in time to music? Contra dancing is a traditional form of social dance that uses some of the same moves as square dancing (ie: swing, dos-a-do), but is done in long lines (not to be confused with modern day line dancing). Contra dance requires no fancy footwork, and all dances are taught by a caller. We welcome people of all ages and ability levels, so come out even if you know nothing about contra dancing. You'll learn very quickly. No partner is necessary. A live acoustic folk band provides the music, which is of Celtic, French-Canadian, and early-American origins.

SCHOOL, LIBRARY, AND SUMMER PROGRAMS - Children's programs are presented as hands on approach. Each child is given a dulcimer to try. Within a few minutes they are playing fearlessly and singing at the top of their lungs. Kids of all ages love the mountain dulcimer. We are also introducing Contra dance for kids. Children will learn the basic steps of this 300 year old dance tradition. Our school program power point is available upon request.

FAMILY GATHERINGS - As ordained ministers we have officiated at many weddings, baptisms, funerals, and other rites of passage. We provide music for weddings, family reunions, church services (as well as doing pulpit supply), graduation parties, art shows, retirement parties, and any event where gentle background music is desired.

WELSH SOCIETY OF THE SUNCOAST - In honor of our Welsh heritage, we continue to learn the history and tunes of the country of Wales. In 2006, we performed at the Special Events building at the Florida State Fair, and we've been there ever since.

**FEES YOU CAN AFFORD** - WE KNOW EVERY ORGANIZATION HAS A BUDGET, AND THESE ECONOMIC TIMES ARE DIFFICULT FOR EVERYONE. WE ARE HAPPY TO WORK WITH YOU SO EVERYONE FEELS COMFORTABLE WITH THE SERVICES THEY RECEIVE FOR THEIR BUDGET DOLLARS.
